California RV Destinations and Activities – RVing Through the Golden State!

California is a hot destination for RVers and mobile home enthusiasts. With its diverse landscapes, gorgeous weather, bustling cities, and incredible landmarks, there are endless sights to see and things to do!

California also offers a wide variety of campgrounds and RV parks that give families, couples and individuals a chance to rest and relax as they continue their adventure through the Golden state.

The Golden state has a climate similar to that of the Mediterranean – warm, dry summers and mild winters. The weather has something to offer everyone. There are plenty of sunny beaches, beautiful forests, and snowy mountains to explore and enjoy. The weather reflects four-season cycle at higher altitudes and features amazing skiing and snowboarding opportunities.

Below are a few points of interest covered by various RV lifestyle bloggers who have traveled throughout California and discovered its wonderful destinations, RV camps, and fun activities. Please take time to check-out each their incredible blogs via their links. Custom Glass Solutions greatly appreciates the research they share with other RV enthusiast.

Camping in Yosemite Lakes

Exploring Yosemite National Park is a must for RVers! It is a beautiful landscape with many sights to see and outdoor activities. However, finding a campground within Yosemite can be a challenge. If you do not book a campsite 6 months to a year in advance, even during the off season, you will be hard pressed to find a place to set up camp.

Thankfully, Jason and Niki Wynn discovered a campground just outside of the park at Yosemite Lakes. The campground offers full hook ups, and gas was 20-cents less expensive than in the park. The campground at Yosemite Lakes is near the small town of Groveland, CA, and provides some additional opportunities for adventures and activities outside of the park.

Glass Beach in Fort Bragg, CA

There are some iconic destinations to visit in California – Sequoia National Park, the Redwood Forest, San Francisco, and many others. Many RV travelers are not aware of this obscure and beautiful beach that locals enjoy.

Thanks to the Kellogg Show, we now have an amazing destination for you to visit during your trip to California! Like its name implies, Glass Beach has bright, smooth pieces of glass imbedded deep within the top of the sand and along the coast line.

In the early 1900s nearby residents would throw glass bottles off the cliffs and into the ocean below. Since then, the beach has been cleared of large and unsightly trash, but the glass shards remain. It is an odd and yet beautiful sight to see! It is a great place for RVing families to explore and search for gorgeous pieces of glass that have been worn down by time and the waves of the sea.

Attractions in Point Loma, San Diego

Roadtreking revealed some amazing RV attractions in Southern California, specifically Point Loma. There are a lot of sights to see, things to do, and food to eat in this single location! Point Loma offers lots of trails that go down to the Pacific Ocean and into Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. There are beautiful canyons to explore and gorgeous views.

Down by the coast, surfers often surf the huge waves in Osprey, Nubs, and Garbage breaks. At Bessamer Beach, you can kayak or paddle board out onto the San Diego Bay.

There are also some great historical sights and landmarks to see within Point Loma. For example, RVers will enjoy visiting Cabrillo National Monument and Liberty Station. Near Cabrillo National Monument, you can explore tide pools, the Historic Lighthouse, WWII bunkers, and numerous trails down the bay side. At Liberty Station, there is a wonderful mix of historical buildings and a variety of contemporary shops.

Point Loma is also near the city of San Diego. There are plenty of things to do in San Diego, but Roadtreking favors visiting the San Diego Zoo, Zoofari, Seaworld, Legoland, and Balboa Park.
